Cuban-American actor and comic Ángel Salazar, 68, was found dead in a friend’s Brooklyn home on August 11. Heart issues were thought to be the cause. Salazar’s film vehicles included Scarface, Carlito’s Way, Where the Buffalo Roam, A Stranger Is Watching, The Wild Life, and Punchline. Salazar also worked as a comedian, that phase of his career being highlighted in the documentaries Comedian and The Latin Legends of Comedy—he opened for such acts as the Beach Boys, Billy Ocean, Whitney Houston, and Van Halen. “Of course I like acting,” he said, “that’s where the money is at. But there is something special about performing in front of a small club. It’s an intimate experience. I like to get the audience involved, it’s a fun show.”
