Swedish director and screenwriter Suzanne Osten, 80, died on Oct. 29. Osten started her career in the theater, writing and directing children’s, feminist, and political plays in the 1960s-70s. She began directing films and TV in the 1970s, also concentrating on political issues. She won the Guldbagge Award for her 1986 comedy The Mozart Brothers. “Why shouldn’t children’s drama be as interesting as Peer Gynt?” Osten asked. “Why shouldn’t a children’s play be equipped with the best actors?”
