Land of the Lost star Spencer Milligan, 86, died on April 18 at his home in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, his family has just announced. The Army vet took to stage work in Chicago and New York, before breaking into movies with Sleeper in 1973. He went on to appear in Gunsmoke, Baretta, McCloud, The Bionic Woman, Alice, Police Squad!, and General Hospital. He was best known as the dad in the enjoyably cheesy kid’s show Land of the Lost, till he quit the show in the third season over a difference about merchandising payments (the cast wasn’t getting any). His character was written off by being sucked through a time doorway (the same doorway that sucked off cast members of Cheers, Good Times, Valerie’s Family, and Two and a Half Men). In recent years, Milligan taught classes and directed plays at Third Avenue PlayWorks in Sturgeon Bay.
