Child actress Sophie Nyweide, 24, died on April 14. Her family danced around the cause of death, but it seems to have been an accidental drug overdose (“those closest to her, plus therapists, law enforcement officers and others who tried to help her, are heartbroken their efforts couldn’t save her from her fate.”). Nyweide got great reviews for her work in An Invisible Sign, Margot at the Wedding, Shadows & Lies, Noah, and especially Mammoth (2009), as a neglected child who bonds with her nanny. “I really, really wanted to be an actress and I kept begging my mom,” Nyweide said in 2010. “She thought it was funny because before I was born she was an actress … but I didn't know that.” Her last performance was in a 2015 episode of the TV series What Would You Do?
