Character actress Sandra de Bruin, 85, died of the flu (get your vaccines, dear readers!) on Jan. 30, it was just announced. Although she studied acting, she put off that career till her marriage failed. From 1970-2018, de Bruin played waitresses, stewardesses, neighbors, and nurses on such TV shows and movies as That Girl, The Andromeda Strain, Adam 12, The Carol Burnett Show, The Blue Knight, Three’s Company, Lou Grant, Knots Landing, and Growing Pains. She was also a member of The Mighty Carson Art Players on The Tonight Show, and did numerous commercials. De Bruin kept up her love for the stage, acting in many Los Angeles-area productions. Her memoirs, Hollywood with a Smile: My Follies and Foibles in the Film Industry, were published in 2022.
