Soap star Ron Hale, 78, died on August 27. Hale played Dr. Roger Coleridge on Ryan’s Hope all through the show’s run, from 1975-89; he went on to play Mike Corbin on General Hospital from 1995-2011, till he was replaced by Max Gail.  The American Academy of Dramatic Arts grad appeared on Broadway in The Time of Your Life and Abelard and Heloise, and from 1968 through his 2018 retirement, Hale was seen in such movies and TV shows as All the President’s Men, MacGyver, Port Charles (again as Mike Corbin), and The Ghost and the Whale. Of his fans, Hale said, “I treat everybody alike. C’mon, this is a wonderful thing to have strangers coming up to you and paying you compliments! You say, ‘Thank you.’” He half-joked of his actor’s life, “I make myself a little cocktail, get in the Jacuzzi, then watch the sun going down over the mountains, and say, ‘This is what I worked for most of my life!’”
