Roger Cook, 1954 – 2024

This Old House star Roger Cook, 70, died recently after a long illness. Cook was the garden and landscape contractor on This Old House from 1988-2020. He and his wife Kathleen (who died in 2010) ran K & R Tree and Landscape Company in Massachusetts. He made guest appearances on House starting in 1982, before he was made a permanent cast member. Cook contributed to This Old House magazine the book Complete Landscaping. In 2015, Cook explained the popularity of the show with both audience and cast: “Every homeowner has different needs, and every project has different challenges. That’s what keeps the job from becoming repetitive. Plus, we have a lot of fun on the set. It’s like going to work with four brothers—and you know how brothers are!”
