Canadian radio host and comic Mike Bullard, 67, was found dead in his home on Oct. 11; no cause of death has yet been determined. Born in Ontario, Bullard’s brothers are a blues singer and a comic and writer; he was working as associate director of corporate investigation for Bell Canada before breaking full-time into performing and writing. He hosted the TV and radio shows Open Mike with Mike Bullard, The Mike Bullard Show, and Beyond the Mic [sike] with Mike Bullard, also working as a standup comic and TV writer. Bullard worked with humanitarian organizations in Ukraine, on the ground in 2022-23; he also supported the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his volunteer work. On the darker side, he was brought up on charges of harassing an ex-girlfriend. Bullard said of his shows’ guests, “all have been pretty good. We’ve had some people who have copped a lot of attitude, some of your bigger names. I’m not looking to see how you treat me, I’m looking to see how you treat the people who work in production and the crew and stuff and you won’t to be back if you’re negative.”
