Actor Mark Withers, 77, died of cancer on Nov. 22. Withers played Ted Dinard on Dynasty, a gay character who is “accidentally” (mm-hmm) killed by Blake Carrington. From his 1977 debut till 2019, Withers appeared in such shows as Wonder Woman, Magnum P.I., Hart to Hart, Dallas, L.A. Law, Frasier, Criminal Minds, Drop Dead Diva, and Stranger Things. Though primarily a TV actor, he was also in a handful of films. TV commercials were his bread and butter; over the years, he pitched McDonald’s, Folger's Coffee, Irish Spring, and Crest, among other products. Before getting into acting, Withers had an NCAA scholarship at Penn State; his hobbies included (according to his PR!) cooking Chinese food, driving stock cars, and writing country songs.
