Singer and songwriter Libby Titus, 78, died on Oct. 13. The folk-rock and pop artist collaborated with such famous friends as Dr. John, Levon Helm (with whom she also collaborated on a daughter), Carly Simon, Phoebe Snow, and Burt Bacharach, many of whom performed at her revue concerts around Manhattan. She performed in the films Awakenings and Heartburn, and her songs were covered by Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt, among others. Titus is survived by her husband (since 1993) musician Donald Fagen. Her daughter, singer Amy Helm, said that “She was a great songwriter… She is one of those natural songwriters [who] didn’t really pursue it.”
