Country singer, songwriter, and actor Kris Kristofferson, 88, died at his home in Maui on Sept. 28. Among the many songs he wrote were “Me and Bobby McGee,” "For the Good Times,” “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down,” and “Help Me Make It Through the Night.” He brought his smoldering sexuality to the screen in Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, Blume in Love, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, A Star Is Born, Heaven's Gate, and the Blade trilogy. A Rhodes scholar, Kristofferson joggled through several careers before music, around 1966. He became a huge success in the ’70s, both as a songwriter and a performer. “I decided to be a singer-songwriter,” he said in 2014. “Back when it was a good way express myself and I’m glad I did, because I think I was driven to the business, too. The act of the songwriting, the joy of songwriting. It’s just a great feeling.”
