British actress Kathryn Apanowicz, 64, died this week, it was just announced. The Yorkshire lass was best known for her roles in the TV series Angels (as Nurse Butchins), EastEnders (as caterer “Mags”), and Emmerdale. She started her career as a child, first on TV and then her first film, Bugsy Malone. Her TV appearances include Rooms, Troubles and Strife, High & Dry, Coronation Street, and Hollyoaks. She was also well known for hosting such chat shows as Afternoon Live and Live Talk.  Apanowicz was domestic partners with game-show host Richard Whiteley from 1994 till his death in 2005 (she wrote a book about him, Richard by Kathryn). Of her Rubensesque figure, Apanowicz said, "I mean, look at me. Oh dear. I am not a clothes horse, never have been, never will be. But it is not as bad as in America. I'd have to lose 25 stone before they let me near the camera. And spend 300,000 pounds on plastic surgery!"
