Tenor singer Joe Bonsall, of The Oak Ridge Boys, died of ALS on July 9, at the age of 76. He joined The Oak Ridge Boys at 25, in 1973, and sold selling over 41 million albums, also touring worldwide. Bonsall started his career in his native Philadelphia, often singing with gospel groups. Bonsall also wrote several children’s books. He said on his website that he loved country or rock and roll, “bluegrass, Gospel and light jazz. I love them all, as long as the song is good. I am more song oriented then genre oriented. I love a well-written song.” His favorite books, he added, were “God’s Holy Word… The Bible” and Stephen King.
