Australian theater, film and TV actress Janet Andrewartha, 72, died in her home town of Melbourne on July 26. Andrewartha starred in a one-woman show, Singing in the Raid, also acting with the Universal Theater, the Melbourne Theater Company, and the Russell Street Theater. She was most widely known for the TV series Prisoner, Seven Types of Ambiguity, and Neighbors, and appeared in numerous other films and TV shows, most recently this year’s Fake. Her costar Jackie Woodburne said, “Janet was one of the finest actors of her generation, but more than that, she was an extraordinary woman. Passionate, political, curious, delightfully eccentric, generous and fun. To me she was a steadfast friend for over 45 years. I will miss her every day.”
