Actor and stuntman Jack Lilley, 91, died on March 19. Lilley’s father rented horses to film studios, and did stunt work as well. Jack (who looked kinda like Tom Selleck and Bob Hoskins had a baby) got into the business in the late ’50s, riding horses and doing stunts—he also got an impressive number of small acting roles: Wagon Train, Bat Masterson, Sugarfoot, Zorro, Cat Ballou, Family Affair, The Wild Wild West, Bonanza, Blazing Saddles, and—most famously—in 39 episodes of Little House on the Prairie, playing nearly 39 different characters). As recently as 2022, he was appearing in No Name & Dynamite. In later years, Lilley and his son Clay ran the Movin' On Livestock horse rental business. Lilley’s Prairie costar Mellissa Gilbert said that Lilley was “one of my favorite people on the planet. He taught me how to ride a horse when I was just a wee little thing. He was so patient with me. He never said no when I would bound up to him squealing, 'Can we go ride? Please, please, please?'"
