Movie and TV producer and writer George Schenck, 82, died at his at his Los Angeles home on August 3. He was the great-nephew of Hollywood producers Nicholas and Joseph Schenck (the same week that the grandson of Louis B. Mayer died). Schenck produced and/or wrote such films and TV shows as NCIS, The Wild, Wild West, The Phantom of Hollywood, Barnaby Jones, Futureworld, Fantasy Island, and Crazy Like a Fox. A graduate of USC’s first film class, he served in the Navy before teaming with producer Frank Cardea; their partnership lasted some 40 years. NCIS star Mark Harmon wrote, “The professionalism and tenacity of George and Frank changed the face of the show. I’m so appreciative of the team and teamwork they both represented.”
