German actor Fritz von Friedl, 83, died on Oct. 9. The son of cinematographer Fritz von Friedl (why did they not use “Sr.” and “Jr.?”), von Friedl began his career as a child actor in 1949. He aged successfully into leading man and character roles, and costarred on TV in Ulrich und Ulrike, Hafenkrankenhaus, Julia - Eine ungewöhnliche Frau, Schloßhotel Orth, and Rote Rosen. Until his retirement in 2018, von Friedl appeared in an impressive 116 movies and TV shows; he also acted onstage throughout his career, in both Germany and Vienna. Von Friedl’s sister Loni von Friedl and his son Christoph von Friedl are also popular performers.
