Makeup artist Frank Griffin, 95, died on September 4. The brother of actresses Debra Paget (who survives), Lisa Gaye, and Teala Loring, Griffin acted in such films and TV shows as Fort Savage Raiders, Teen-Age Crime Wave, The Giant Claw, and Death Valley Days. But he said that “I was never happy [acting], I had always felt I was poorly trained. Had I really wanted to do it, I would’ve had to have had the balls to go back to New York and study there.” Griffin moved to the makeup studio, where he was Steve Martin’s go-to makeup man (Pennies from Heaven, Three Amigos!, Roxanne, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Parenthood, Father of the Bride, and many others). Griffin’s other assignments included Westworld, Midnight Run, Electra Glide in Blue, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Lou Grant, and Peggy Sue Got Married.
