Film and TV actress Erica Ash, 46, died of cancer on July 28. An Army brat, she grew up all over the world, and was preparing for medical school when she discovered singing and modeling. Her first big acting break was on The Big Gay Sketch Show; she also was a continuing player on Mad TV, Real Husbands of Hollywood, Survivor’s Remorse, and In Contempt. Ash appeared in numerous other TV shows and movies, most recently this year’s Extended Family. Ash told Resident magazine, “I’m ambitious and tough on myself and work until my body can’t take it. The entertainment business is hard and a lot of energy goes into it. Actors and actresses can work 12-22 hour days. I sometimes forget to be good to myself and realize I need to stop and take care of myself.”
