Actor Chad McQueen, 63, died of organ failure on Sept. 11. He had been in failing health since suffering a racecar accident in 2006. The son of Steve McQueen and Neile Adams, Chad began acting in 1983, his most famous role being Dutch in The Karate Kid (and its 1986 sequel). He was also seen in V, Fever Pitch, Firepower, Jimmy Hollywood, and Number 1 Fan, among other films and TV shows. One of his children, Steven R. McQueen, is an actor (The Vampire Diaries, Chicago Fire). Chad—like his father—became a racecar driver, which contributed both to his enjoyment, and to his death. “My dad had a Ford Econoline van,” Chad said, “that had a big, big motor in it, so that’s what I got taught to drive in, and it was lowered and it really handled good – but my first car was a ’49 Chevy truck. My dad used to let me drive, once I’d gotten my license at sixteen, he would let me drive his speedster.”
