Dancer and choreographer Catherine “Cat” Glover, 60, died on Sept. 25. She shot to fame on Star Search with her partner Patrick Allen (“Pat and Cat”), and joined Prince’s backup dancers in 1986. She had long wanted to work with Prince: “I was living on my own on the North Side of Chicago. The only thing that got me through my depression from everything was listening to Prince’s album Dirty Mind. I knew I had to meet him.” She was soon Prince’s choreographer as well as dancing on his videos and stage shows (Sign o’ the Times, Lovesexy, and singing on Alphabet St.). She released her only EP, Catwoman, in 1989. In 2007, Glover said, “I decided to take a break from the music business. I wanted to focus on raising my children; I always knew that when the time was right, I would come back. All I ever wanted to do was dance. I’d wake up in the morning to get ready for school, and my Mom would have breakfast on the table and the radio on, and I would just start dancing.”
