Comedy writer and producer Bob Booker, 92, died on July 12. He is best known for his Grammy-winning album The First Family (Naomi Brossart’s Jackie in “The Tour” is a particular delight). Booker started his career as a radio interviewer, also writing greeting cards and articles for Playboy. After hitting it big with The First Family in 1962 (which JFK himself enjoyed), he wrote numerous other comedy albums, including When You’re in Love the Whole World Is Jewish, and Al Tijuana & His Jewish Brass. Booker produced and/or directed such movies and TV shows as the dreadful 1970 The Phynx (notable only for such cameos as Joan Blondell, Ultra Violet, Ruby Keeler, Patsy Kelly, and Butterfly McQueen), The Paul Lynde Halloween Special, and Out of This World. He is survived by his wife (since 1968), actress Barbara Noonan, and their two children.
