Makeup artist Al Schultz, 82, died at his Long Beach, CA, home on June 19. The Wisconsin native started his career as a camera dolly operator and grip before becoming a makeup artist. He worked at The Carol Burnett Show from 1969-77, becoming CBS’s Head of West Coast Makeup in 1972. Schultz was the makeup artist on the Norman Lear shows All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Good Times, Maude, and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, as well as The Sonny and Cher Show, Hollywood Squares, Laugh-In, The Dean Martin Show, Elvis in Concert, and the 1970s TV show The Planet of the Apes. Schultz met Vicki Lawrence while they both worked on Carol Burnett; they married in 1974, and had two children.
